Of Snow and Pets

Mom got a new dog for her birthday. Meet Marvin.

He is seven years old, and very cuddly.*

He doesn’t like the snow, though. Since last week, Mom has been buried under about a foot and a half of snow, and Marvin just isn’t having it. He won’t go to the bathroom outside. So Mom bought puppy pads, and he knows what to do with those.

Now, Marvin gets along with Pete’s dog Maddie, but the cat Rosie could give a shit. As far as I know, Maddie handles the snow fine. Marvin just wants nothing to do with it. Or the fireplace.

Pets are weird.

*I have not verified this statement. Yet.

Well, for some reason, every dog we have had loved the snow. Mostly our dogs had lots of fur so maybe it felt good. Who knows, but even the poodle would go out, realize it was snow and streak across the yard for 10-15 minutes, thereby messing up the pristine snowfall and come back to the steps breathing heavy, covered with little frozen balls and looking @ her handiwork. What a strange girl, but snow has that affect on some people.

PS… (a) Loving your blog, seeing a whole different side of you, cool. (b) I have a skirt that looks just like that pillow behind Marvin. (c) And Marvin looks just like Ralph, this man @ my church. Is Marvin an Episcopalian?
