Petit Four Fail

One day I was browsing through Pinterest (yes, people still do that) and I was looking at cake photos and petit fours and I was like “Ooh, pretty!”

So I moseyed over to YouTube (like you do) and looked up videos.

I stumbled across this video and thought, “Hmm. I can do this!”

No.

NO I CAN NOT.

Shall I walk you through this so you can watch my fail?

Sure.

The things I do for you.

First up: ingredients

I don’t know if my icing wasn’t melted enough or maybe I wasn’t covering the cake correctly or what. But Aaron, Mike, and Richie all said they tasted good. Well of course they did, it’s pound cake dipped in vanilla icing. They just look terrible.

Maybe I’ll try again some otherĀ  time. Right now I’m just going to sit and be cranky and eat my failed petit fours in bitterness.

Infinity Scarf

A couple of months ago, NY friend (who is now back in St. Louis and will henceforth be known as Zombie) asked me for an infinity scarf. Since I’d never done one, I found the easiest pattern I could and got to work.

Kara had given me some fingering weight Knit Picks yarn, and I striped two colors, Timber and Bordeaux. I did one repeat in each color before switching.

It was done in linen stitch, which I’d never done before. I love how it looks, it’s just a very tedious pattern.

I was kinda nervous about the colors because when I knit for Zombie before, I knit in black. But she loved it! I don’t know if over the moon is the correct term, but she was very happy with her scarf.
